K. Melissa Hayes, DNP, ANP-BC, CHFN
Melissa is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She teaches in the Adult Gerontology Primary Care Program and the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program. Heart Failure became her primary area of interest in 2001 when she started working in the Vanderbilt Heart Failure Program. Since then she has maintained a clinical practice in heart failure and continues to care for heart failure patients in outpatient cardiology. Her scholarly interests related to heart failure include transition of care from hospital to home, post-hospitalization clinic visits, literacy-appropriate heart failure education, and care of heart failure in primary care. Melissa is the co-editor of the text book titled "Managing Heart Failure in Primary Care: A Case Study Approach" published in March of 2023. When Melissa is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and puppy dog "Pepper".
Shannon Donovan, FNP-BC, CHFN
Shannon has been a nurse for over 25 years and a nurse practitioner for 20 years. She has worked with Heart Failure patients for over 15 years. Shannon works at Ascension Saint Thomas Heart as a Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient Comprehensive Heart failure program. She has volunteered for the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses for the last four years on the Membership committee and now with the Together in Heart Failure website committee. In her free time she loves hanging out with her husband and two dogs, Ollie & Milo.
Lisa Stalbaum, RN,BSN,CHFN
Lisa is a Mechanical Circulatory Support Coordinator at Tampa General Hospital. She has been caring for patients with Advanced Heart Failure requiring transplantation or mechanical support for over 20 years. She truly enjoys working with this patient population and the bonds she has created with many patients over the years. Lisa is also an avid runner and triathlete.
Janie Gomez, BSN, RN, PCCN, CHFN
Janie Gomez is a dedicated and experienced Heart Failure Nurse with 15 years of expertise in cardiac care. She has been instrumental in building and developing the Heart Failure program at Northern Nevada Health System in the Reno-Sparks NV area, where her contributions have significantly improved patient outcomes and quality of care. Currently, Janie is pursuing an Acute Gerontology Nurse Practitioner degree, furthering her commitment to advancing her skills and providing exceptional care to her patients. Her dedication to excellence and passion for patient advocacy make her a valued leader and trusted healthcare provider in the field of cardiology.
